San Antonio native Dr. Joseph Garza is our chief fertility specialist who has been practicing fertility and reproductive endocrinology since 1983. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School of Dallas and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. He followed with a fellowship in fertility and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Garza is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Association of Gynecologists Laparoscopists. He is also a member of the Society for Reproductive Surgeons, The American Society of Reproductive Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Garza performed the first Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT) procedure in private practice in San Antonio at the Nix Hospital in 1985, as well as the first, two-egg donor, In Vitro Fertilization case in Texas. He also performed the first robotic, tubal reversal and robotic internal abdominal cerclage in the nation. Dr. Garza is also an international lecturer and da Vinci robotic instructor for advanced laser, reproductive surgical and microsurgical procedures, and he specializes in natural fertility treatments and other treatments for infertility. He is married and the father of four children.
